Gwen Bergen, MS, MPH, PhD

Gwen is a Clinical Research Interviewer for Georgia Gear providing operational support for program.
Before coming to Emory, Dr. Bergen was most recently the team lead for the Safety Promotion Team at CDC's Injury Center. The Safety Promotion Team worked to prevent drowning and older adult falls. She worked on older adult fall prevention for ten years with an emphasis on implementing and evaluating clinical fall prevention strategies, understanding older adult injury knowledge, and designing evidence-based tools to encourage older adults to adopt behaviors to reduce their injury risk. Her previous CDC experience includes five years on the Transportation Safety Team with a focus on alcohol-impaired driving, older adult mobility, and data linkage, and two years as a fellow at the National Center for Health Statistics working on injury data. She received her Master of Public Health in Behavioral and Social Sciences from the Emory University Rollins School of Public Health and her doctoral degree in social and behavioral science with an emphasis in injury prevention from Johns Hopkins University, Bloomberg School of Public Health.
When not working she spends her time kayaking, and with her cat and German Shepherd rescue dog.
