Partner Program

The Mercer University College of Health Professions (MUCHP) was established in 2013. Engage is an interdisciplinary initiative housed at MUCHP. Engage collaborates with Georgia Gear to develop and implement educational resources on Age-Friendly care for health professional students and practitioners. The team is led by Leslie Taylor, PT, PhD and includes Jennifer de la Cruz, PA-C, David Taylor, PT, DPT, and Susan W. Miller, PharmD.

The Learning modules and Age-Friendly Healthcare Glossary initially will be utilized within three health professions programs at Mercer (Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant Studies, and Pharmacy), with plans to expand to other programs. It is the premise of this project that in order for clinicians to practice and participate in the delivery of age-friendly care, they must be trained in an age-friendly manner. Through this project, we will develop students who are better prepared to provide value-based care and also enhance collaboration between primary care physicians and other healthcare providers to integrate the 4Ms (What Matters, Medication, Mentation, and Mobility) into each patient encounter to optimize health outcomes for Georgia’s older adults.
