Dr. Mirk has been selected as the Associate Director for Clinical Programs in the Birmingham/Atlanta VA GRECC. In the AD/Clinical role, Dr. Mirk will lead and facilitate innovative clinical demonstration programs to pilot new models promoting age-friendly health care and work nationally with GRECC AD/Clinical leads on collaborative GRECC projects within the VA. Dr. Mirk developed the IMPROVE medication safety program for older Veterans with polypharmacy in outpatient care. She is also the Atlanta site lead for the Virtual Geriatrics program, which provides geriatrics consultation services via telehealth to support older Veterans in rural areas. Dr. Mirk is Associate Professor and Associate Division Director for Education in the Division of Geriatrics & Gerontology at Emory and Program Director for the Emory Geriatric Medicine Fellowship.
